Dr. Chapman Lab

Dr. Chapman's lab focuses on both research and clinical application of findings that promote brain health. The goal is to optimize the brain's cognitive performance across the life span in healthy aging, post-injury, and disease. Specifically, we develop and test measures of strategic attention, advanced reasoning, and innovative thinking. We also create and impact brain training protocols on functional abilities, cognitive capacities, and brain physiology using neuroimaging measures such as EEG and MRI. Virtual Reality Social Cognition Training and SMART (Strategic Memory Advanced Reasoning Training) delivered via online and in person are two of the programs keeping healthy brains healthy and rebuilding vulnerable areas of brain function. The research focal points include healthy teens and adults at all life stages, traumatic brain injury in young and older adults, bipolar, adults at-risk for dementia, and those with social deficits including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
