The Center for BrainHealth developed the BrainHealth Institute for Athletes to comprehensively address brain health issues related to sports concussions and other injuries in the aging athlete’s brain. The initiative was specifically created to detect and repair debilitating long-term cognitive and emotional disability in retired players while also including a program of comprehensive brain screening, longitudinal follow-up, and brain repair training to provide a unique focus on sports-related injuries.
To successfully implement the program, the Center for BrainHealth employs an experienced team of multi-disciplinary brain scientists and rehabilitation specialists with expertise in cognitive neuroscience, neurology, neuropsychology, biomedical engineering, brain imaging, and brain training.
Based on the Center’s two decades of brain injury research, BrainHealth scientists developed the BrainHealth Institute for Athletes to include:
The Center for BrainHealth is seeking funds to support this program so that all athletes can receive the best care possible, at no expense to them. For both the research study and medical care, the confidentiality of the athletes will be rigorously maintained at all times, with no other participants or outside parties having access to an individual’s data. This study is being conducted in active partnership with the players themselves. Through our advisory committee and each athlete’s input, we will conduct the present study and any future modifications or additions in direct consultation with the athletes.
