Discovery Group

The Discovery Group at the Center for BrainHealth is a unique strength-based intervention for individuals with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia and their caregivers. In addition to helping families seek a positive path after diagnosis, the program serves as a training ground for graduate students seeking degrees in the communication disorders field. The program engages each participant in building a framework for moving forward.

For individuals newly diagnosed, the Discovery Group puts the focus on preserved abilities, emphasizing remaining strengths and creating a supportive atmosphere where individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia can find camaraderie and learn about the disease, medications, and beneficial lifestyle factors.

Families receive and are connected to useful resources, practical information and build lasting relationships with others in the same situation.

Student clinicians learn and practice techniques to stimulate the brain and extend its performance through the early stages of dementia.
